Elite athletes like World Cup skier Mikaela Shiffrin, champion climber Kai Lightner, and ultrarunner Sabrina Stanley are used to letting their performance do the talking. Shiffrin flew home immediately, buying herself a few short hours to say an impossible goodbye. Jeff Shiffrin died on February 2, 2020, at the age of 65.
