Dean Maxfield Mullavey Obituary:

Dean was a ­potter, artist, teacher and mentor. He was born in Concord, New Hampshire. He served in the US Navy and spent time in Japan after WWII. He graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA and went on to earn an MFA from Tulane. He came to Canada and taught pottery at The Pottery in North Hatley, Que. and art at Champlain College and Bishop’s University in Lennoxville. Dean set high standards for himself and his students and was much admired and loved by those whom he taught and mentored. He was always supportive of his students and gave positive direction and purpose to the lives of countless young men and women. He was a respected artist whose work can still be found in many museum collections and in private collections across North America. He was a great aficionado of Gilbert and Sullivan and starred in many productions. He is ­survived by his brother Richard of Concord, New Hampshire and his niece and nephews Christie, Brian, Kevin and Alan along with countless friends who loved him dearly.
