Facebook now hosts an interactive video and payment system
Payment processor Total-Apps has introduced Video Checkout, an interactive video platform that embeds a secure payment form into any video posted and shared on Facebook.
It’s no surprise that companies and charities are striving to introduce ways of making payments on Facebook’s platform. Even payments in the context of videos is less surprising when one considers that over four billion videos are streamed on Facebook each year. Clearly there is ample opportunity exists for nonprofits and political groups to utilize their library of videos for fundraising efforts on the social network.
Total-Apps’ video check out will allow any group or political figure to add an interactive element to their Facebook video to accept donations directly in the Facebook news feed. This means that viewers can make a contribution without ever having to leave Facebook.
For Facebook it means that now more people have less reason to leave its social platform whilst charities and organisations will stand to benefit from the bonus of reduced friction due to the elimination of the friction that occurs when clicking to another web page to make a donation.
“By offering this new Facebook video service, we can give charities the opportunity to really unlock the donation potential of their social media networks,” said Total-Apps executive director Rey Pasinli.
According to the National Center for Charitable Statistics, more than 1.5 million nonprofit organizations are registered in the United States. Recent studies show that more than 92% of those utilize Facebook to promote their causes.
In order to use the this payment service on Facebook campaign managers upload a video to their Total-Apps back office, enter the donation increments they desire, and then post the video to their Facebook account by clicking a “Share on Facebook” button. A confirmation window allows the campaign manager to enter an additional post message before the video is placed in the organization’s Facebook news feed.
